Revelstoke - March 25, 2002

Well, I finally made it to Revy.  Had a guided tour on Boulder, compliments of the Snowmobile Revelstoke Society - the guys that do all the grooming.  Snow was hard packed, windblown, and weather was partly cloudy. I had a good look around Boulder Mountain and was impressed with the terrain, although not nearly as vast as I had thought it would be.  I guess I'm spoiled by the Pemberton Ice Cap.

The grooming was superb and the views equally spectacular.

Watch out for the trail cops here - even the RCMP ride sleds - here they are unloading a pair of brand new Polaris RMK's.  The Cabin on Boulder is located just below the alpine - there is over 12 feet of snow here.

I did make it out to the famed Turbo Hill.  It was packed out and most any sled should have been able to bust over the top.  Yours truly took the easy way up - didn't really want to take the chance of getting thrown out of a rut and rolling to the bottom.  Of course, if the snow had been smooth and soft, I would have been the first to attack it!!!

Next time I make it out this way, I will make sure the powder is fresh and I will give Revy another chance.  Too bad it wasn't quite right this time.
