We booked a fishing trip for
day 2 and it was AWESOME to say the least. Our guide Jairo ( Diablo
to his friends) knew the area very well and had a very clean boat with
decent equipment.
We headed out at sunrise for
six hours on the waters around Tenacatita Bay
We started catching tuna as
soon as all the lines were set. We caught a LOT of tuna...
The scenery was as great as
the fishing.
Then we headed up the coast
a ways for the big fish...
These yellow fin tuna hit
hard and ran forever. It took Frank and I all we had to reel these
strong swimming fish in. By the time they were aboard, we were both
exhausted.
Then the really big fish
started to hit - Dorado or as it is better known - Mahi Mahi. These
fish are ugly, but as we found out later, they are one of the best tasting
fish in the world.
All in
all, we caught 22 fish, our limit for the day. We did it in less
than four hours and according to our guide Jairo, it was a record day.
That evening the chef cooked up one filet of Mahi Mahi and served it to us
on a beautiful platter. It was absolutely delicious.
