Barra de Navidad is a
small fishing/tourist town about 30 km south of the resort. It is
situated on a beautiful bay alongside the town of Melaque.
It has many
small shops lining its narrow, cobblestone streets. The shop keepers
were friendly and always willing to make a deal.
We stopped
for lunch at a beachside restaurant. It was very colorful and the
beer and nachos were excellent.
The beach
here was quite steep but very long. Not really good for swimming.
The northern end at Melaque was much shallower and better suited for
sunbathing.
Our
taxi driver stayed in town and waited for us while we shopped and browsed.
It is actually quite a good deal when you consider that we were his only
fare for the day.
