Barra de Navidad is a small fishing/tourist town about 30 km south of the resort. It is situated on a beautiful bay alongside the town of Melaque. |

It has many small shops lining its narrow, cobblestone streets. The shop keepers were friendly and always willing to make a deal. |
| We stopped for lunch at a beachside restaurant. It was very colorful and the beer and nachos were excellent. |

The beach here was quite steep but very long. Not really good for swimming. The northern end at Melaque was much shallower and better suited for sunbathing. |
| Our taxi driver stayed in town and waited for us while we shopped and browsed. It is actually quite a good deal when you consider that we were his only fare for the day. |
